TWW Rose 2023
Rosé 2023

Tasting Notes

Attractive, elegant pale salmon pink colour with a delicate nose of summer fruits. The palate is fresh and dry with soft hints of raspberry and strawberry.

‘Raphly Paired’ – Contributor Review – Port2Port “With a nose of grapefruit and purest Pink- Lady apples, the Trade Winds Rosé beckons you to lunches under pergolas that gently stretch until long past sunset, while starched sheets idly billow in the breeze. Its palate of white dessert peaches, strawberries and crisp watermelon will have you reaching for your passport and simultaneously googling the best seaside getaways. Not needing to be the centre of attention, the Trade Winds Rosé does a far subtler job of being the best possible supporting act, as its savoury, saline core ensures that any dish is enhanced and any mood buoyed.”

Michael Fridjhon – Wine Wizards  “Pale coppery-pink. Delicate red fruit aromas. Whiffs of bruised strawberry, hints of stoned fruit. On the palate, quite substantial and showing a little evolution. Easy-enough-drinking and with a-food friendly grippiness adding length to the finish.”

Suggested Food Pairing

Seafood – lobster, prawns, trout, salmon, white fish or chicken, sushi, brie cheese, salads, light meze cuisine. Perfect sunshine aperitif.

Analysis

ALC 12.5 - RS 2.0 - TA 5.5 - Ph 3.4

Trade Winds Rose is made with grapes from selected vineyards to produce a quality Rose profile – Cabernet Sauvignon from low-yielding vines in Stellenbosch, South Africa’s outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon region and Chenin Blanc, also from long established Stellenbosch vineyards.
The 2023 season began with mild, dry conditions which had a crucial impact on grape quantity and quality. Midseason cultivars such as Chenin Blanc, delivered average to above-average yields, possibly due to the positive impact of the December rains on berry mass. Late cultivars, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, had to wait until after the rains to go to the cellar, presenting producers with various challenges and a reduced yield. Despite these challenges, vineyards that were well managed handled the unfavourable conditions well and produced high-quality grapes.
Created from a blend of carefully selected Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon cultivars, in order to preserve the attractive colour and the necessary fruit character of Rosé.
